Looking back on Lia Sensei’s visit we realize how important it is to have our teacher visit our dojo as often as possible. Even brief; as this visit was it leaves our dojo with sense of enlightenment, inspiration and overall good feeling. Her importance to our dojo and aikido community in this area is quite understandable once we observe response to our seminars invitation. This was a bad weekend to have a surprise seminar in our area; as there were few large seminars already in the area at the same time, and advertised months in advance. Nevertheless, mention of Lia Sensei brought people from distant areas, just to share this experience with us. Some old distant friends and some new once gathered. One can only observe the reach our Sensei has in awe. Cross states and affiliations open to new ideas friends gathered to train and sweat with us. We hope to see our Sensei again soon and truly represent her legacy in days to come. Sharing the experience on and off the mat with her is priceless for our personal development and once again we are recharged and ready to face all this dojo has to do to survive in these challenging times. We would like to thank Lia Sensei once again for visiting us and being so kind to selflessly pass on this gift she gathered over many years to all interested in learning. It was inspiring to visit this dojo that has survived a lot and also very exciting to see old friends. I was surprised that people came from California, Virginia, New York, Ohio, Florida, and other distant areas to train together, without political affiliation being a factor at all. It reminded me that Aikido in the USA has progressed dramatically since the days when I began.
I'm looking forward to many more exchanges of this type in our future.
